After weeks of work restoring an IGT Double Bonus draw poker machine, Lawton Barnes reaches the final stretch in The Metal Shop’s latest video. The goal? Clean up years of grime and fix a malfunctioning change button, bringing the machine back to full functionality.

“This thing is filthy,” Barnes admits at the start of the episode, armed with cleaning supplies like Fantastik, Windex, and Goof Off. A peeling sticker and years of residue are quickly tackled, making the machine instantly look better. But beyond aesthetics, there’s still a key issue to solve—the change button isn’t lighting up as it should.

Upon closer inspection, Barnes discovers that the culprit is a missing micro switch. “Somebody had taken the micro switch off the bottom of the change light and left it disconnected,” he explains. The solution is simple: reinstalling the switch into its housing. He demonstrates how the tiny red button on the switch is supposed to engage, and after snapping it back into place, the light functions perfectly.

With all major components repaired, one final touch remains—fixing cloudy hold/cancel buttons that appear to have been damaged by a strong solvent. Using needle-nose pliers, Barnes removes the affected buttons and replaces them with clean plastic covers.

After a final test run, the restoration is officially complete. “We are done with restoring this IGT Double Bonus draw poker machine, and it is looking pretty sweet,” he says proudly.

For those looking to perfect their machine’s setup, Barnes teases another video guide. “I’ll show you how to get your machine dialed in perfectly, so that you can invite all your friends over and take all their money,” he jokes.

And with that, another vintage gaming machine is brought back to life—ready for action once again.

“Keep on rocking like Dokken!”
